Lyx is a WYSIWYM document processor with great features.

Lyx is a ‘What you see is what you mean’ document editor which uses the structured writing based document approach. Powered by Tex/LaTex, this document processor can be used for writing mathematical contents, academic articles, theses including books, novels. It comes with a fully capable integrated equation editor as well. Being a structured document processor, Lyx can automatically generated sections, sections with numbers etc. – this gives user ability to concentrate on the content itself without worrying about section/figure numbers, formatting.

Lyx - How it works

Lyx recently released the first maintenance version 2.2.1 with feature and enhancements. Users using older version 2.2.0 can download the new version using below ways.

For Ubuntu 16.04 Xenial Xerus and other Ubuntu derivatives:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:lyx-devel/release
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install lyx
