Ardour – the open-source Digital Audio Workstation software brings huge changes with its latest version.
Digital audio workstation (DAW) apps are used to record, edit, and create/produce audio files. DAW apps come with a wide range of configuration options based on their types. Using DAW apps, you can record music, songs, speech, radio, TVs, sound effects, podcasts, and these apps also help you to mix & alter multiple recordings and produce a single track.
Ardour is free and open-source DAW advanced software and it is a perfect tool for you whether if you are a novice or professional musician. It is loaded with features and backed by a huge list of plugins. You can check out Ardour feature list here.
Recently Ardour released version 6.0 with massive changes. If you are using earlier Ardour 5.2, you will see a lot of visible differences.
Ardour 6.0 is now absolutely, fully compensated for latency along any signal pathway. Busses, tracks, plugins, sends, inserts, returns: no matter how you route signals within (and external to) Ardour, everything will be fully compensated and aligned with sample accuracy.
This release also brings a high-quality resampling engine at its core to deal with variable speed, a design that makes the core of Ardour’s code much simpler and ensures that MIDI tracks will have their audio output (if any) handled correctly.
You can also now monitor any combination, often called “cue monitoring” (you can hear existing data from disk while also listening to the input signal). This is particularly useful for MIDI tracks, where you can now hear yourself performing/adding new material to a track while listening to the playback of existing material in the track.
That’s not all, you can check out Ardour feature list here.

Although it is free software, remember Ardour free version periodically goes silent after 10 minutes. So, you may want to contribute a little to the project to support its developments. There are plans for $1, $4, $10 or $50 per month subscriptions and one-time plan as well. You will be prompted while downloading with plan details.
